1) April IGSV Group Meeting: Our next IGSV group meeting will be on April 24, 3-4:30 pm, via Zoom. We will discuss the near-final draft of bylaws for IGSV, written by several of our members. Please attend to help shape the future of IGSV. There will be an opportunity to talk about the leadership structure and to volunteer for various roles. Finally, we’ll spend a little time simply catching up with each other to make sure we keep our community strong!
Please RSVP to email@example.com to get the Zoom link and the link to the bylaws.
2) Local History Lecture: This week, the Township of Lebanon Museum is hosting the first of two virtual lectures about the recently discovered history of a program in New Hampton in the late nineteenth century to “reeducate” Native American boys. An “outing program” for the Carlisle (PA) Indian Industrial School included sending students to work for American families, including families in Hunterdon County. You can read more about the lectures here: http://www.lebanontownship.net/services/museum.aspx. Curator Gina Sampaio, a good friend of IGSV, is incredibly excited about sharing this local historical story that speaks to the long struggle in the US for equality.
3) April Volunteer Effort: This month, the Western NJ Democrats Community Service Team will be doing an environmental cleanup in honor of Earth Day. Please join the group on Saturday, April 17, from 9 to noon at Heritage Park Playground, Vliet Farm Rd, Asbury. Meet near the pavilion. Park cleanup kits will be provided. This is a family-friendly event, and all are welcome. Mask up and honor social distancing. Please RSVP to IGSV member Cinny MacGonagle at firstname.lastname@example.org.
4) Indivisible State Legislature Activism: Indivisible is starting a training series for members to learn how to effectively build power at the state level.
