Week of November 29, 2020

1) Congress in your Kitchen: Tomorrow (Monday) at 2 pm is the next Zoom session with Congressman Malinowski’s “Congress in your Kitchen” series. If you live in Hunterdon or Somerset County, RSVP to hear from our Congressman and let him know your thoughts on current issues. Share the link with any friends/family in NJ-7, especially if they have never spoken with Congressman Malinowski before. RSVP here: https://ggle.io/3dFX

2) Stay safe: New COVID diagnoses have hit an all-time high across the US, and are approaching highs in New Jersey. Continue to socially distance and wear a mask. Also consider downloading the COVID Alert NJ app to help with contact tracing: https://covid19.nj.gov/pages/app. Finally, if anyone needs assistance with anything, please let the group know.

3) Enjoy the Biden/Harris win: Trump and the GOP have continued to pretend that the 2020 election was unfair and therefore unfinished. This has robbed some of the joy of the election victory for Biden/Harris supporters (and Trump/Pence opponents). Take a moment to enjoy the win, and to celebrate each moment like Trump spending $3 million for a Wisconsin recount that actually increased Biden’s victory by 87 votes. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/wisconsin-recount-over/2020/11/29/b4896ade-30c9-11eb-96c2-aac3f162215d_story.html.

4) Inauguration: It’s hard to know what the next two months will hold for this country, but start thinking about how to celebrate the Biden/Harris inauguration on January 20, 2021. Are people interested in a trip to DC? Perhaps an IGSV Zoom viewing party? You can read more about the Biden/Harris plans here: https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/25/politics/inauguration-day-2021-biden/index.html.

Quote of the Week: “President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris today announced new members of the White House staff who will serve in senior communications roles. These diverse, experienced, and talented women demonstrate President-elect Biden’s continued commitment to building an administration that looks like America and is ready to deliver results for working families on day one. For the first time in history, these communications roles will be filled entirely by women.” – Biden/Harris transition team, 11/29/20
