Week of August 30, 2020

1) Election Security: The Director of National Intelligence just announced that he and other senior intelligence officials will no longer brief Congress in person – only in writing – on 2020 election security. While the claim is that this will prevent leaks to the press, as though press coverage is a bad thing, written briefs will not enable Congress to be fully informed about efforts by Russia and other foreign governments to corrupt the election. Call all three of our Members of Congress to let them know that we consider election security to be of utmost importance and that the public needs to be informed about threats. 2) Malinowski Town Hall: Congressman Malinowski will be hosting a virtual town hall on Thursday from 6-7 pm. You can register here: https://www.mobilize.us/malinowskiforcongress/event/312893/. Please attend and – importantly – spread the word to other NJ-7 residents who have perhaps not heard Congressman Malinowski in person.

3) School Reopenings: Our local schools have now begun the academic year. The success of reopening plans depend not just on what happens within the school buildings, but also on having low rates of community transmission of COVID. So, whether or not you have loved-ones as students or staff, please wear a mask and continue to socially distance!

4) 2020 Candidates: This week is a great time to support candidates up and down the ballot. Consider donations and volunteer efforts if you can!

Quote of the week: “Let’s speak truth here today — this president isn’t trying to make America great; he’s trying to make America hate. So, it is critical to our security, our dignity, and our unity as a nation when I say: ‘We need a new president.’” – Kamala Harris
