Week of May 24, 2020

1) Memorial Day: Tomorrow is Memorial Day. Honor those who have lost their lives defending this country by advocating for democracy. Indivisible is hosting a virtual town hall with Senator Elizabeth Warren to talk ab out protecting our right to vote on Wednesday, May 27, at 5 pm. Tune in to ensure that our democracy survives Trump. Register here: https://act.indivisible.org/signup/052720_WD_safe_voting_Town_Hall.

2) COVID-19: The front page (and subsequent three pages) of the NY Times today listed 1000 people who have died from COVID-19 in the US, approximately 1% of the total death toll. You can read the digital version here: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/05/24/us/us-coronavirus-deaths-100000.html. Spend some time looking through the names, and then remember that tens of thousands could have been saved if the Trump administration had acted faster. Then call our three Members of Congress to let them know that they need to hold this administration to account.

3) Stay safe: It’s a holiday weekend, and it will be tempting to socialize, especially given good weather. Please remember to be safe and wear masks! This is for your benefit and for others’.

4) Indivisible Endorses Biden: Indivisible has officially endorsed Joe Biden for President. Take a few minutes to read through their rationale and their comparison between Biden and Trump: https://2020.indivisible.org. Then consider making a donation to the Biden campaign (https://joebiden.com) or to Indivisible.
