Week of April 5, 2020

1) The Indivisible Plan for Economic Support: Go to https://peopleoverprofits.indivisible.org and read the Indivisible proposal for “The People’s Bailout.” They have scripts for what to say to our three Members of Congress around 1) protecting democracy, 2) making health the top priority, 3) providing economic relief directly to the people, 4) rescuing workers and communities rather than corporate executives, and 5) ensuring an economic rebound that prevents future crises.

2) VoteFWD: Indivisible is partnering with VoteFWD to have activists write letters to voters to help increase turnout, similar to Postcards to Voters. Please consider signing up so that you can fill your forced staycations with some positive work. More information is here: https://indivisible.org/resource/write-letters-voters-votefwd.

3) State and Local Responses to Coronavirus: Indivisible also has a guide for what you can ask state and local governments to be doing about the coronavirus. You can read more here: https://indivisible.org/resource/what-tell-your-elected-officials-do-about-coronavirus. The requests mimic the priorities of “The People’s Bailout”, described in action 1.4

Quote of the week: “I’m getting calls from folks worried by misinformation the NJ GOP put out claiming Warren & Hunterdon Counties aren’t getting COVID relief. In fact, the small business loans, $1200 payments, enhanced unemployment, grants to hospitals & first responders, are going to all counties.” – Congressman Malinowski, https://twitter.com/Malinowski/status/1246942626240180226
