Week of March 15, 2020

1) March IGSV Meeting and Walk/Run: I realize that most things have been canceled lately. But since our March gathering is outside, I thought I’d still show up for anyone who is interested in getting a little fresh air. We will gather at 10 am on March 21 at the Columbia Trail parking lot in High Bridge for a few quick words of inspiration, and then head down the trail at whatever pace and distance works for you. Back at the parking lot after, we’ll have snacks and coffee. Please bring something to share and picnic chairs/blankets if you are so inclined. If the weather is particularly good, there will be some picnic games as well. It will be a great way to celebrate the official start of spring along with fellow Resisters! All are welcome, including children of all ages, regardless of your walking/running pace. Dogs are also welcome. If you would rather stay in the park at the trail head, you can also just socialize there, starting around 10:30. Please RSVP to indivisiblegsv@gmail.com.

2) Coronavirus Support: The House has passed an emergency relief bill to support Americans during the coronavirus scare (you can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/14/us/politics/congress-coronavirus-bill.html). Mitch McConnell isn’t in any rush to vote on the bill, however. Please call both of our Senators to ask them to support the Families First Act, NOT a payroll tax holiday that will disproportionately benefit high-income employees. You can read more here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/03/14/why-trump-isnt-getting-payroll-tax-cut-he-wanted-coronavirus/.

3) Keep Yourself Safe: Please keep yourself clear of large crowds as much as you can. While you are home, you might consider taking virtual museum trips (https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/75809/12-world-class-museums-you-can-visit-online), write some Postcards to Voters (https://postcardstovoters.org), and read the Indivisible book (https://book.indivisible.org)! Reach out if you need any assistance!!
