Week of March 8, 2020

1) Mrs. Riley’s Fundraiser: On Tuesday, Mrs. Riley’s Pub had a devastating fire that caused damage to the kitchen, dining room, and upstairs apartments. As many of you know, they have hosted many Resistance meetings over the last 3+ years. Please help put them back on their feet by donating to this GoFundMe fundraiser started by Natalie Ferry and Joyce Leftly: https://www.gofundme.com/f/mrs-riley039s-fire-recovery-fundraiser.

2) IGSV March Meeting and Walk/Run: This month, we will combine our monthly walk/run with our monthly IGSV meeting to give everyone a chance to commune with nature and with each other along the spectacular Columbia Trail. We will gather at 10 am on March 21 at the Columbia Trail parking lot in High Bridge for a few quick words of inspiration, and then head down the trail at whatever pace and distance works for you. Back at the parking lot after, we’ll have snacks and coffee. Please bring something to share and picnic chairs/blankets if you are so inclined. If the weather is particularly good, there will be some picnic games as well. It will be a great way to celebrate the official start of spring along with fellow Resisters! All are welcome, including children of all ages, regardless of your walking/running pace. Dogs are also welcome. If you would rather stay in the park at the trail head, you can also just socialize there, starting around 10:30. Please RSVP by email to indivisiblegsv@gmail.com.

3) Malinowski Town Halls: We are blessed to have a Congressman who has multiple opportunities to talk with him in person each month, if not each week! There is a telephone town hall about coronavirus on Wednesday at 6 pm. Sign up here: https://tthm.wufoo.com/forms/teletownhall-with-congressman-tom-malinowski/. On Saturday from 11-12:30 at the Millburn Free Public Library in Millburn, he’ll be on a panel about ending corruption. Other panelists are Rep. John Sarbanes, Chair of the Democracy Reform Task Force, and Tiffany Muller, President and Executive Director of End Citizens United. Sign up here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-community-forum-on-public-corruption-tickets-97826538811. Please show up to hear about these critical topics!

4) International Women’s Day: Today is International Women’s Day. In honor of this day, please call all three of our Members of Congress to thank them for continuing to support women’s equality and reproductive rights. You can read more here: https://www.internationalwomensday.com.

Quote of the Week: “Choose to fight only righteous fights, because then when things get tough—and they will—you will know that there is only one option ahead of you: Nevertheless, you must persist.” – Elizabeth Warren, in announcing the end of her Presidential campaign
