1) IGSV November Group Meeting: We’re back! We took a short break this fall from group meetings so that all of you could focus on 2019 campaigns. Thank you for all that work! Our meeting this month will be by our member, Laurie Gneiding, focused on protecting our drinking water resources. Please join us on Saturday, November 23, 2:30-4:30 at the Hunterdon County Library in Flemington. RSVP by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Bring friends!
2) IGSV November Walk/Run: Our next monthly walk/run at 8 am on November 16. This is a great opportunity to get a little exercise, meet other resisters, and enjoy our natural surroundings. Meet at the Columbia Trail parking lot in High Bridge. All are welcome! RSVP by email to email@example.com.
3) Environment: The Trump administration announced last week that the US will leave the Paris Climate accords. This despite the fact that Earth just experienced the hottest October on record. Call all three of our members of Congress to let them know that you support strong climate action by the United States. And note that the departure would become official the day after the November 2020 election day. This is one of the stakes in next year’s Presidential election. 4) Impeachment: The public testimony in the impeachment inquiry begins this Wednesday. Watch and be sure to let our members of Congress know how you feel about foreign interference in our elections. As if you need more reason to be concerned, a Chinese trade negotiator has said that China would love to see Trump re-elected because he’s so easy to out-negotiate: https://www.scmp.com/business/china-business/article/3036844/trade-negotiator-who-got-china-wto-rooting-trumps-re.
Quote of the Week: “The aid Trump withheld, against the advice of everyone on his national security team, amounted to 10% of Ukraine’s entire military budget. Ukraine has lost 13,000 lives to Russia’s invasion. This was powerful extortion.” – Congressman Malinowski, https://twitter.com/Malinowski/status/1192454588059783174
