Week of September 29, 2019

1) Impeachment: The House has begun an impeachment inquiry into Trump’s conduct pressuring Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election. This is a quickly evolving story, as more information about Trump’s corruption is revealed daily. Meanwhile, the State Department is trying to distract from impeachment by revealing that they are renewing the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server. Call all three of our Members of Congress to let them know that Trump’s corruption is unacceptable, and that his corruption includes trying to punish political rivals like Clinton. 2) Climate Change: Over the last two weeks, millions of people across the world have taken to the streets to demand action on climate change (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/sep/27/climate-crisis-6-million-people-join-latest-wave-of-worldwide-protests). A recent study says that Congressional staffers consistently underestimate their voters’ support for policies that will avert the worst of climate change (https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/otm/segments/many-gulfs-climate-coverage-otm). Call all three Members of Congress to ensure that they know your stance on climate change policies!

3) IGSV Monthly Walk/Run: Our next IGSV walk/run will be October 19 at 8 am at the Columbia Trail parking lot in High Bridge. Please come to enjoy the natural beauty of Hunterdon County and the company of your fellow resisters! You can RSVP by email to indivisiblegsv@gmail.com. Please invite others, whether they are in IGSV or not!

4) Canvass: We need to turn out people to support our state and local candidates this year. Keep your eyes peeled for canvassing opportunities posted to the Facebook page during the next few weeks. It’s crunch time!

Quote of the week: “This is very bad news for our country, because if it is as it seems to be, our president engaged in something that is so far beyond what our founders had in mind.” -Nancy Pelosi
